Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U), formally known as University of Ife, was founded by the defunct western regional Government in 1962.

Commencing 1975, the Federal Government of Nigeria surmounted total control of the University from the government of the Western region.

Upon the bereavement of the first Premier of the Western region and former chancellor of the University of Ife “Chief Obafemi Awolowo”; the name of the university was changed from University of Ife to Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U), to commemorate his name.

OAU Ile-Ife is significantly illustrious as one of the most beautiful university in Africa. It is also well known for its unique structural design and ecological harmony, as well as the superiority and placement of the staffs and students.
The university has clearly become a masterpiece in terms of the uniqueness of its academic curriculum, quality of staff varying from Ph.D accredited from MIT, Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton, Yale, Stanford and top other universities around the world.

In Africa, O.A.U is one of the most diverse in educational backgrounds, professional experiences, and interest. The faculty and Staff are the very heart and soul of OAU and provide students with a supportive, stimulating learning environment.
